2        ROLE

2.1      Vision

The Institute's vision is to create an internationally recognised organisation which has a body of members who believe and are committed to:  

  • Generating increased performance throughout Australian organisations (including business, industry, government and community groups)  by the application of Value Management systems and thus enhance their competitiveness - both nationally and internationally.

  • Promoting the application of innovative Value Management techniques and systems, which can encourage people to deliver extraordinary contributions while respecting their importance as individuals.

  • Stimulating and facilitating people to make a commitment to the production of superior quality products, processes and services.

  • Ensuring that the fabric of Australian organisations function at the highest levels of integrity.

  • Being of service to the community in Australia through the advancement of knowledge in Value Management.

2.2      Objectives

The objectives for which the Institute is established and its powers are as follows:

  • To establish a national identity for the Institute and recognition by the community, business and government of the benefits of Value Management

  • To improve Australia’s national and international performance through the application of Value Management to systems, organisations, processes, products and services.

  • To create a widespread awareness in the community of the benefits to be derived from the application of Value Management in Australia.

  • To develop and maintain standards of qualification for appropriate grades of membership and criteria for Registration of practitioners so that the community may have confidence in the designations assessed by the Institute.

  • To attract membership of suitably qualified people who have the capacity and integrity to contribute honorably and usefully as members of the Institute.

  • To attract membership by organisations (in both private and public sectors) to support and advance the vision and objectives of the Institute.

  • To set and maintain a Code of Conduct and assist members and others to improve their skills.

  • To contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and skills in Value Management throughout Australia and internationally.

  • To encourage research and development in Value Management and its applications.

  • To encourage and facilitate education in Value Management for both individuals and organisations.

  • To establish and apply criteria for accreditation of programs aimed at enhancing the knowledge and practice of Value Management.

2.3      Related Activities

2.3.1   Printing and Publishing

To carry on the business of producing for sale printed material on the subject of Value Management systems and applications, and to do all acts, matters and things in any way incidental or ancillary to the conduct of this business.

2.3.2   Publications and Copyright

The Institute retains right of copyright over any and all material submitted by its members under the Institute’s name.

Prior to its publication, all material to be published by the Institute must be authorised by the Board of Management or its nominated delegate. 

2.3.3   Affiliations and Associations

To establish, support or aid the establishment and support of associations, institutions, funds, trusts and conveniences and to subscribe or guarantee money for charitable or benevolent objectives or for any exhibition or for any public, general or useful object calculated to advance the interests, vision or objectives of the Institute or to be of benefit to its membership generally.
